Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 August 2026

1. Purpose

These Terms of Service govern the use of Choof, a mobile application developed by MRK SOFTWARE (Mirko Bellabarba, independent developer). By installing or using the app you accept these terms in full; if any part doesn't work for you, the only option is not to install it, or to uninstall it.

2. What Choof does, and where the data comes from

Choofshows train timetables, status and position, station maps, and communications about strikes or engineering works, plus optional notifications for trains or routes you choose. The rail information isn't produced by us: it comes from the public ViaggiaTreno API, Trenitalia's own information system. Choof is an independent project, with no affiliation, sponsorship or agreement with Trenitalia, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) or Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane.

Because we depend on an external source we don't control, the data shown can occasionally be incomplete, lag behind reality, or be temporarily unavailable if Trenitalia's own service has an outage. When in doubt — especially before an important trip — always check the operator's official channels.

3. Acceptable use

The app is meant for personal, non-commercial use. You may not: resell or redistribute access to its content, scrape data from it with automated tools, attempt to bypass its technical protections, or use it to interfere with our systems or Trenitalia's. We grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the app, valid for as long as you comply with these terms and with the rules of the store you downloaded it from (App Store or Google Play).

4. Name, trademarks and content

The app's code, graphics and original text belong to MRK SOFTWARE. The name "Choof" is not a registered trademark: we simply use it to identify the app in the app stores, without claiming any exclusive rights over it. Third-party trademarks mentioned in the app or in these terms — Trenitalia above all — remain the property of their respective owners and are used for descriptive purposes only.

5. Push notifications

If you enable notifications for a train or a habitual route, the app will alert you based on whatever data is available at that moment. Delivery goes through the Expo Push service and, downstream, Apple and Google's own infrastructure: if either of these is experiencing issues, a notification may arrive late or not at all. You can turn them off at any time from your phone or app settings.

6. In-app purchases and advertising

Any in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple and Google under their own payment and refund terms — we never see or process your payment data. The app does not currently show advertising; if this changes in the future (for example through Google AdMob), what gets collected for that purpose will be detailed in the Privacy Policy.

7. Limits of liability

The app is provided as-is, without any guarantee of continuity or absolute accuracy. To the extent permitted by law, MRK SOFTWARE is not liable for direct or indirect damages arising from use of the app, including travel decisions made on data that later turns out to be inaccurate or outdated: verifying information before you travel remains your responsibility.

8. Changes and discontinuation of the service

We may update, suspend or shut down the app, in whole or in part, at any time — and we may change these terms too. Continuing to use the app after a change means you've accepted it.

9. Governing law

These terms follow Italian law, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer rights granted by EU legislation.
